Are you part of the Passion Industries?

No, this is not a post about Red Light districts, a certain lingerie company, or a particular type of shop where interesting artefacts for use in the bedroom (or indeed, elsewhere) can be purchased. Rather, it’s a heads-up for an interesting FREE workshop at Birkbeck in London on 23rd June centred around the working conditions of people who are passionate about their work in the arts, cultural and media sectors.

At the workshop I’m looking forward to sharing information, strategies and tactics relating to creativity, work and ‘precarious labour’; discussing internships, power and control, bullying and the role of trades unions in supporting freelance workforces. Birkbeck is fielding some impressive academic speakers (and me as well) so I expect to learn a lot.
